Bruce Sheppard
Role on committee (if applicable)? Chairman. In theory this means that I get to tell all the other committee members what to do; in practice they all know what they're doing so I mostly just leave them alone. I'll generally do the presentations at club night, run the agenda at committee meetings and if necessary be the 'face' of the club.
When did you start biking? Started 1983, and I've had a bike ever since.
How did you start biking? I was 16 years old & living in a fairly rural area, I had a Honda MB50, as a good one had been available at a bargain price. Training consisted of "there's a private road, learn". Later I got a Kawasaki KC100 to take my bike test followed by the usual motley collection of bikes typical of a youngster in the late 80s/ early 90s.
When did you join BAM? On the advice of a friend I joined in early 2000 & after passing my test, became a full member in late 2000
Best things about BAM? I love the friendly & helpful attitude of a wide variety of members. The base of knowledge on so many subjects has been invaluable.
What Difference did joining BAM have on your riding/life? I had a lot of bad habits & BAM has removed a few of them. The tours have been a great experience & I look forward to more of them. I very much see BAM as like a second family.
Current bike(s): For the last 25 years I've had Honda CBR1100 Blackbirds- from the moment I test rode one I've never wanted anything else. The build quality, the smoothness, the power.
Most interesting story, or best experience, from your biking history: I have so many stories that start "No shit, there I was ..." -If anyone actually cares to listen, then I'll tell them in person.
